Heck yeah. Gaara pwns! Anyway, I think that Shukaku isn't Gaara's only means of controlling sand. He just used Shukaku's auto-defense and the huge amount of chakra. I think that Gaara can still use the sand, so, considering that they live in a VILLAGE OF SAND, I'd say: yes. Yes he is.
Then again, I'm still wondering how the old Chiyo lady didn't manage to become Kazekage before him...

That's cuz she's OLD, Yaro. XD No, really, I think she just didn't have any interest in it.
As for the Gaara debate... hm, did they actually pull Shukaku from Gaara? I was under the impression that it was through Shukaku that Gaara could control sand. Gaara 'dies', thus implying that Shukaku was taken from him, but it is seen in the manga where he is clearly using sand to make Naruto shake his hand.
I'm confused.

anywho, i thought gaara actually ust shook naru's hand O.o y'know signifing a deeper friendship than ever before!
aber im not smart enough to read deeper than what im told :-[ so i think he 'died' but was not relying on shukakus power from day to day... maybe using it as naruo does? just when it is needed in the extreme or when shukaku is bloodthirsty

Oh, so he DID make Naruto shake hands with him, lol. Anyway, the only thing Shukaku did was supply Gaara with a lot of chakra and an ultimate defense. The Akatsuki still have Shukaku. I'm pretty sure. I think.

Ok im warning you guys now, im pissed. Im gonna swear here. I apologize in advance if i break any forum rules.
Speaking of naruto, I hate waiting for all my fave fic authors to update. Or rather, i hate trying to find good fics while i wait for them to do so.
I swear, if i find one more goddamned "what if" fic ima go crazy. It's all the fuckin same. "What if sasuke never left." "What if naruto left with some crazy strong mary sue self insert idiot.
"what if sasuke and orochimaru and naruto and jirayia all eloped and had crazy fucking orgies with bad grammar and runon sentences and crackpipes and random bullshit happening every 3 seconds and stupid attempts at shitty humor and OMGWTFBBQHOTSAUCE BULLSHIT!"
I fuckin swear. It's all the damn same. It's all "naru/sasu buttsecks in high school". Why are all these high school aged STRAIGHT girls writing shitty stories with bad grammar about gay men? I mean, if you wanna be gay, fine, i dont care. If you wanna write about it, thats fine too. BUT RUN A FUCKING SPELL CHECK BEFORE YOU POST THE FUCKING THING! And try to be at least slightly original. Yaoi aint my thing, but I dont mind a good one being on the site. I wont read it, but i dont mind it being there. But all i EVER see nowadays is, "naruto i've fallen 4 joo!" "OMG sasuke i luff joo 2! come bang my ass! Yay! Im being raped!"
I swear to god the fandom has just died. If it was a living human it would have commit ritual suicide long ago just to end the shame. I can see why many of the great authors have abandonded it. Like BlackWindKaze, Kraken's Ghost, or Dame Wren.
Thank god a few great ones have stuck around like Foxy and a few others. They are the only things keeping me going.
And yes i know the argument. "If i think it's so bad why not write my own fic. My answer is that even if i do, and if I do i'll go all out (an actual plot, grammar and spelling checks, Fucking attempts to fucking improve and not just literary masturbation) it'll get passed over in favor of, "legend of the crackhead homosexual and completelyinaccurate shinobis" with a summary that says "i suck at writing a single paragraph(summary) about my story but i swear the actual story is amazing and will be a new york times bestseller" written by "gaara's-yaoifan-14yrold-girl-with-no-literary-abilities-nekochan-animelvr-XXX
Ok rant over. sorry about that. Just recalling the old naruto fanon days when it was GOOD. I miss those days. -sigh- Tell me they'll be back? Please?
EDIT: and another thing! Can we stop with the DAMN naruto kills himself/cuts himself/hates himself fics. Seriously, if he didnt do any of that in the first 12 years of his life, which were arguably the WORST, what with having exactly 3 people in the WORLD who even TOLERATE his meager existence while living alone and being destitue and having practically no positive human contact. I think it's safe to say he wont do so after having made at least 22 (yes 22) friends and having a surrogate older sister and uncle (jiraiya as an uncle?) who treat him well.
OK NOW im done hehe.

XD No, really, I understand how you feel. I don't even read Naruto fanfiction anymore, just for the reasons you stated. I have no trouble with yaoi, 14 year olds writing fanfiction, or the infamous 'what if?' scenarios. Self inserts make me twitch but I never feel as if I'm going into a homicidal rage, unless the story I'm reading has bad spelling.
Grammar, I can understand. Spelling, however, I cannot, since spell checks are so easy to obtain. If anything, spelling has to be the one thing that that I hate.
After all, if you can't even understand what the person wrote, how can you read the story? I especially hate stories written in 'IM speak'. Such as 'ill luv u 4ever, sasuke!'(Did I mention how much I hate Sasuke? Because I do) or 'lol, wtf, naruto?'. I myself never IM like that because I prefer getting my point across clearly without sounded like a half blind moron just barely learning how to use his keyboard.
...Um, no offense to anyone who talks like that on IM, or to anyone learning their way around the keyboard. Or anyone who's half blind. ^^;;;
My point is, there's a time and a place and fanfiction isn't it. Fanfiction, should the writer wish to write their story in English, should at least resemble the language that their viewers expect to read. And, at the very best, have been spell checked. At the very least, the story should be read over once or twice.
Back to the waning talent of Naruto fanfiction... I think that fanfiction reflects the state of the fandom in general. And fandom, everyone, is dying of BOREDOM. Fillers are good, once in a while, but the fillers Naruto has been showing have killed our brains and ripped them out of our skulls and replaced them with fluff. And not the good kind of fluff either. Even I have found myself completely sapped of any and all creative energy after watching some of the fillers. It kills me to see the anime going in a downward spiral like that.
So, it is my hope that once the REAL Naruto starts up again in the anime, fanfiction will also see the light and slowly improve. I think Kishimoto is a genius(at times, but definitely not when he agreed to the fillers... he did agree to that, right?) and genius rubs off on people. As soon as the anime improves, people will stop writing their inane stories with their lack of spellchecks... and their abundance of SasuNaru porn.
Because, forgive me, misdirected and confused yaoi fangirls, but Sasuke should fall on a spork and die, fillers and spell checks put aside.

Is it? I thought that whole 'Yakumo' arc wasn't done yet. A friend told me that the most likely episode to end the fillers would be 208 or 209 because that's when season 8 ends.

I hope it ends soon or I might throw my monitor out the window in my righteous fury. And that's bad because my monitor costs a lot of money. ^^;;

Qwiksilva, that post was completely random. However, I revere you. That post alone should have it's own thread. *bows*
Even if you did break a forum rule, I don't think anyone would care because it's opinion's like that that we all just love. Plus, no one really seems to follow the rules anyway.
And I hate it when people don't update too (GLARES PARTICULARLY AT FOXIE-SAMA, j/k, j/k...sorta). Looking for good stories now is getting impossibly...impossible.
Sometimes the what-ifs can be a bit interesting, but if you write one, I'm betting you'll probably feel a bit depressed when you find out your readers will leech your ideas but not the story, so you can't report it, and (if particularly good) you'll get fifty of the same ideas sprouting out from nowhere like out of control foot fungus, which can also be a bit frightening as well. Depressingly frightening or frighteningly depressing? Whatever. I hate Mary-Sues.
When people say 'Not Mary-sue' in the summary, you can probably expect one or two or a dozen of them in there.
I also particularly dislike harem fics. The only female character in Naruto who even likes Naruto is Hinata, and soon-to-be Sakura. Otherwise, other kunoichi completely disregard Naruto's existance as a male.
Oh, and Hinata does NOT have an Inner personality, she is NOT going to go 'fuck me, fuck me' after one chapter of 'Hinata, I realized after about three freaking years that I'm in love with you now will you get your father to kick you out of the house so you can stay and have sex with me?'
No. Freaking. Way.
Simply put, some people can pull this off, others can't. And I can't see Hiashi as the type of guy who'd re-disown Hinata for liking Naruto because, when you think about it, he's probably smart enough to realize that Naruto was the one who helped healing the rift between the Main family and the Branch family. Hello? Neji only started acting nice AFTER he was exposed to the Naruto-ness! The Naruto-virus got him, and now Neji's HAPPY. People write Hiashi off as a retard or something, geez....
And the random crap that's deliberately random just to make it seem funny? Yeah, dry humor is great for two to two and a half paragraphs, if it even manages to get past the first sentence without making real readers gag their eyes out. Yes, some are just so horrible that you can gag eyes.
And rape? Rape is the birth to all emos! ...Or is it the other way around, with emos giving birth to rape? whatever, it's pathetic and sad and somewhat extremely disturbing.
I just have to say that the birth to emos has brought a death to fanfiction. And yes, writers like Foxie are the only few doing the art of amateur writing (as in unprofessional/unpaid, not 'bad writing') any justice.
And I seriously know what you mean by the fact that real hard work and real effort is overshadowed by horny teenaged fangirls who have the nerves to call themselves writers. They really ought to stick with imagining it all in their head, rather than letting us all know what they're writing. The fact that sometimes the most retarded stories in the history of fanfiction get any fame just because it's basically porn for fangirls who don't have the common sense to look at pictures instead of reading this shit is really upsetting sometimes. I mean, crackfics? Instant microwave yaoi? Emo 'I'm-cutting-myself-fics'? The fact that they're actually getting reviews that say "UPDATE, UPDATE, THIS ISH TEH AWESOMNEST!" is depressing. If you have nothing to say or to help a writer 'hone their literary skills', then don't comment at all. I say, don't encourage their l33t-speak.
I also hate it when authors say things like "PLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASEPLEASE REVIEW!" It's fine to say, please review' in a calm and orderly manner but... but....
DON'T YOU PEOPLE FUCKING BEG FOR REVIEWS! ITS DEMEANING TO OTHER WRITERS WHO DON'T EVEN BEG FOR IT! YOU'VE GOT TO WRITE FOR IT AND EARN IT! AND DON'T YOU FREAKING THREATEN TO STOP WRITING JUST BECAUSE PEOPLE DON'T REVIEW BECAUSE WE EITHER A) DON'T CARE OR B) ARE TOO LAZY TO DO SO UNTIL WE ARE SURE YOU'RE GOING TO STICK WITH IT FOR AT LEAST 10-20 CHAPTERS WITHOUT GIVING UP! BECAUSE WE'RE TOO LAZY TO GIVE A REVIEW TO SOMEONE WHO DOESN'T HAVE THE DETERMINATION TO CONTINUE WRITING."
And if you do threaten to stop a story, you had better be good at it or at least have potential. It's infuriating to see the crappy writers threaten to stop (yet somewhat entertaining), but when people actually have potential and actually can write grammatically superior to n00b fanfiction writers, it's kinda depressing.
...And I believe I am overusing the word 'depressing'.
I actually considered writing in one of those 'specialized' fanfiction sites. Ones that accept only certain authors, though I doubt I would get accepted, and it'd be a blow to my insanely huge pride and ego if I didn't.
Oh, and, uh... if Naturo kills himself, it had better have been in an extremely ironic Naruto-like way, and then he'd become a shinigami or a ghost in a crossover or a very well-written story or something.
And Naruto would never hate himself! He doesn't hate anything except for the three-minute wait it takes for ramen to cook! Or else he wouldn't dream of being hokage. If he really hated himself, then he'd be an emo, and Emo!Naruto is NOT fun to read. If he really hated everyone else, then he should not care whether they respect him or not, nor would he want to become a hokage, since a kage's PRIMARY DUTY would be to protect his/her villagers. Plus, that would be a Serious!Naruto, which is pretty much nonexistant.
Plus, Naruto would NOT merge with the Kyubi, would NOT grow fox ears/eyes/tail/whatever the hell people at on to him that ordinary HUMANS do not have. And the chances of Naruto becoming and staying a woman are SLIM to NONE. And Naruto's harem would consist or one to two girls or perhaps a drunken whore. The only people who like him would be the guys.
Neji respects his ability to inspire people. Kiba and he were top pranksters or something like that. Shikamaru understands that Naruto is better than what people take him for, being a genius. Lee is all HARD WORK and FLAME OF YOUTH, which Naruto may be categorized under. Gaara wants to BE LIKE HIM. Sasuke is his freaking RIVAL, which means he has his respect, no matter how much of a grudging respect it is, it's still respect.
And the chances that the guys listed above would become women permanently just to be in his harem club are less than slim to none. Its somewhere in the negative three digits.
Oh, and blindness and other disabilities are getting old.
And...damn, I ranted.
Now lookit what you made me do, Qwiksilva... T_T Wasted thirty minutes of my life. And now I have a feeling people are going to think I'm obsessive. Or crazy. Whatever, I have a major headache coming on right now... Dangit...

DAMN STRAIGHT YARO...
I completely argree with most of what you said about the fanfiction. Although I have a small disagreement with the Kitsune area... now If the story is accually written well (A rare occurance now in fanfiction except for the welcome Yaro and Foxie) The Kitsune and merging idea may be somewhat workable if you straighten out the details of the story and explain it..
1. Kyuubi might not accually be evil.. He might have just been pissed off one day that someone stole his coffee, I'd be pissed too... It is my coffee dammit. Seriously, someone attacked him when he was sleeping and he was pissed... Understandable
2.Kyuubi is a demon(do they say he is a demon though? I only heard of him from records as the 9 tailed fox... no demon was ever mentioned...)
